"Vermont is facing a severe housing shortage that threatens not only our economy but the very fabric of our communities. Hardworking Vermonters—teachers, nurses, restaurant workers, and countless others—are being priced out of homeownership, largely because state and local policies have made it far too difficult to build the homes we need.
"We commend Governor Scott for recognizing the urgency of this crisis and for putting forward serious, solutions-oriented proposals to address it. Several of the Governor’s initiatives align with many of Let’s Build Homes’ priorities, including strategic infrastructure investments, appeals reform, and clarifications and updates of last year’s landmark Act 250 reform that ensures that housing opportunities in targeted areas are dramatically expanded, as intended.
"As this plan moves forward, we look forward to working collaboratively to strengthen it and advance policies that will ensure every Vermonter has the opportunity to own a home."
Let’s Build Homes is a non-partisan coalition of Vermonters that strives to create a future of housing abundance for households of all background and income levels in Vermont while preserving the state’s unique character and cherished landscape. By transforming public policies and encouraging community action, we will help Vermont grow into a more affordable, vibrant and inclusive state.
